Despite growth in economy and many opportunities, a lot of people have turned towards online methods of income mainly due to a lot of population in the country and the high competition. Hence there's a large community of bloggers in China. Continuing our series on top 10 blogs and bloggers around the world, we decided to look into what blogs are most popular in China. Here's our list of the top 10 bloggers and blogs in China.

Blog ranking

One thing that's really inspirational about the Chinese is that, they make almost everything themselves, and use those things as well. They have their own vehicles, they have their own stealth fighters, they have their own satellites, and they have their own search engine, social media and blogging services. And it isn't something that a small, local company runs with limited scope. These services are being used throughout China.

How's that relevant? Well, many popular bloggers in China are using Chinese services such as Sina and Sohu as their host and publishing platform. Forget WordPress or Blogger, the Chinese will have it their own way! While there's nothing wrong with that, it does put us in a bit of a problem. Some of these blogs aren't sub-domain blogs. So their Alexa and Google PR ranking is common and shared with the main domain. So ranking them on the basis of Alexa (or something similar) is useless.

Another thing to consider is, since many of these blogs are in Chinese, their major audience comes from the native Chinese-speaking community. In this regard, the local search engines and publishing platforms can provide a better estimate of what blog is more popular on the basis of total views or hits. Blog evaluation

While evaluating blogs, there's no one or easy parameter that tells us which blog is the best. This is mainly due to the non-availability of accurate analytics data. The most obvious rating system of choice would be Alexa Traffic Rank. But even that's not accurate enough, since it mostly monitors traffic from its toolbar-installed browsers (at least that's how it worked last time we saw). So a site with less traffic could rank above a site with greater traffic in Alexa. But still, it does give us a good estimate of where a website or blog stands.

In our rating, we also take into account audience engagement (comments, likes, followers etc), and Google PageRank, as well as 'blog influence' and Technorati ratings (for the past 180 days). Hence, our ratings might not confer with another ranking system, because we evaluate how influential, how popular, and how well optimized and ranked a blog is. Also, it doesn't matter whether the blog is in English or a native language. The purpose is just to find out what blogs are popular. So here goes!

Blogs are, of course supposed to be ranked based on their traffic stats. But accurate statistics are never revealed out to the public, which is why there is no accurate way to rate blogs based on how popular they are, and how much traffic they get.
Most blogs are usually ranked according to their Alexa Traffic rank. But again, that's not as accurate as you'd wish. And Google PageRank is an absolute rather than a relative scale. So these parameters aren't enough to rank websites.
Another parameter to look at for blog ranking is Technorati rating, and the number of blog feed subscribers. So the ten blogs we have chosen are the top 10 based on all these parameters, and the rating within them is then based upon their worldwide Alexa, so as to prevent any biased decisions.
